First he suceeded as a TE coach. Then he suceeded as OC. Coaches and football executive personnel at his every stop have said he would one day be a good coach.

That's a track record.

He didn't just end his playing career and suddenly be handed a HC job. VP of Football Operations is an even higher role. If we wouldn't do it for a HC why would you do it for a position with even greater authority?

I'm all for giving Manning a chance. He can start in the scouting department. Work with Snead and Demoff until someone gets a sense of his executive acumen.
