Saints had pick 32 , still T White.
It's John Ross not Fred.
I think people would be trading up for the TEs .
33) John Ross.
34) Pat Mahomes.
35) Obi Melifonwu
36) David Njoku
37) Evan Engram
Thanks for that amended version, Alyo.
Further evidence that an outstanding football player will fall to us at #37. We must NOT trade up this year.
Question about John Ross. And only because I seek enlightenment, mind you.
Ross has great straight line speed, clearly. My question is whether he is also strong in the many other facets of a #1 WR? Hands, route running, getting open, fighting for the ball, catch radius, football smarts, etc? 'Cause I value those other things more than just track speed in pajamas.
Track stars don't necessarily make good football players. We need football players.
Anyone else that wants to chime in here for my enlightenment is more than welcome, btw.
John Ross:
Obvious top end speed = seperation
Good route runner and frankly his speed scares enough corners to help on his comeback routes. I think he is right behind Corey Davis and Kupp in this years route running class. Samuel and Jones are right there as well.
Decent hands - an occasional drop but nothing Rams Wr-esque
As far as RAC - Ross is obviously fast but also kinda shifty.
His negatives:
contested catches - small frame makes it tough to win the tough catch. Its not for lack of effort
red zone - again he wins deep and with more open field, congested redzone and contested catches are not his forte, again not terrrible.
injury history - 2 blown knees already...
Physical corners can get him off his game due to his lack of size and strength, but if he gets loose he is a serious homerun threat. Would work well opposite a bigger possession type WR.
