But will it be the (dreaded) BPA, or will need trump it?

March 21, 2017 02:23PM
Not trying to start our infamous, long running, BPA controversy.

Just saying that fit, and McVay's priorities, will matter. Since we haven't been through a draft with McVay at the helm, it is hard to predict what he'll favor. Different HCs place different values on different positions. He is offense oriented, and our D is reasonably stocked. They certainly didn't sign Webster or Barwin to be role players.

It is my humble opinion that we are short a starting TE, WR, and Center. And these need to be quality picks, and quality starters, not depth or "development" type players. So it is somewhat predictable that these will be the position players taken in rounds 2 - 4.

There's also no doubt that they'll follow their board. But, most teams fall in love with certain players and what seems like logic to us as to who to pick kind of flies out the window. I think Quick and Robinson both fall in that category, for instance.

I would think that McVay could easily fall in love with a guy like Cooper Kupp. But he could equally fall in love with a guy like Mixon or Christian McAfferty who could be a Julian Edlemann or even Sproles type of player. A match up problem from more than one spot on the field due to his skill set.
