A move the chains guy who can lineup outside. But he is better suited for the slot. We already had Austin, Cooper, Spruce and Marquez all of whom are slot only guys. Well except Austin who doesn't really have a position. But please tell me this is not the group that starts the season
One vid on him does the "better suited for the slot" thing. I don't believe that. I believe McVay directly named what he can do when it comes to that--he can line up in the slot or outside and be equally effective at both. If he is effective at both he's always on the field and doesn't give away to the defense what he's doing just cause he is in the huddle.
And I don't know how many guys who are good at routes, tough, smart, and so on but not WR superstars, yet who can and do come through as consistent, productive, reliable, 1000 yard receivers. You can make a good passing game around that.
There are average, move the chains WRs...and then there are average, move the chains WRs who can give you 1000 yard seasons because of their mindset or their tenacity or something, which means they are MORE than what they look like. WILL he be that? I dunno, but I say he is capable of it.
