Not all FA dollars are equal.

March 09, 2017 04:14AM
The only measure of where a team stands for FA is not only the treasure chest of dollars, but also of how many players that team already has under contract.
So if a team has 50 players under contract and $25 mil in cap space, that is not the same as a team who has 40 players under contract and $40 mil in cap space.

I believe the Rams have something like 51 players under contract, so the cap space isn't as onerous as it might appear.
No doubt they can't make anymore than probably one big splash, if they even want to do it that way.
My hunch is that they want at least 3 FAs, so they will have to be mid-tier types.

I hope they start with Martellus Bennett.

Sure. That is yet another aspect of it.
