I'm saying that it is not uncommon for a woman to call the cops, a boyfriend gets arrested for assaulting her, and then after a few days she drops the charges. Happens all the time. I know DAs and cops who just shake their heads at this kind of stuff; guys that regularly beat on their girlfriends and never face formal charges. Not saying it's right. Saying that is often comes down to pragmatism for the female. Especially in a case where the boyfriend is the father of the woman's child and she depends on him paying child support (whether formally or not).
And a guy who has no job can't pay child support.
And if the girl doesn't press charges; and there is no conviction; then the NFL can't do anything about it can they?
Yeah, if somebody has a video of the assault, then the NFL can perhaps be pressured by bad PR into doing something.
And yeah, a player can be cut. But unless there is some super damning evidence and video or something, teams aren't quick to just cut productive players who up to now have been good soldiers.
So don't go thinking that it's automatic that he's going to face charges, let alone get cut.
Not condoning anything of course.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes. No doubt if he's convicted, that'll be it for him. As it should be.
