They couldn't keep Jenkins (though apparently Fisher wanted to but the negotiation people didn't pull it off). Naturally Jenkins performed well last year. They couldn't keep McCleod, who also played well last year. Now they have a decision to make with Johnson.
That's three good DBs found in one draft year (though in 2012 McLeod was not drafted but was a UDFA). I don't think that the Rams have ever come up with 3 well-regarded DBs in the same draft year since 1980--Kirk Collins, Leroy Irvin, Johnny Johnson.
Three in one year like that? That's not a typical kind of thing.
I personally have no particular stakes either way with Johnson. Who to keep and why and for how much is really a complicated 3-dimensional chess game. I do know that this is a very deep draft year at both CB and safety. That's noteworthy whether they keep Johnson or not.
