Goff was NOT ready when he came out.
He was the #1 pick because he was considered by some as the best of a so-so crop of QBs.
He is not physically mature, and his game is too limited due to the Air Raid style he played.
In a good year he's probably a 2nd round pick, maybe a late 1st. He has the arm talent, he has a good mind, good character and seems to be mentally strong. But he needs development on pretty much every level.
It's the nature of the game and the NFL that QBs are so valuable that guys get taken too early relative to the development of players at other positions.
Goff has the tools. But it is going to take excellent teaching, patience, and being relatively injury free so that he's not rehabbing instead of developing.
NOBODY like that belongs on a Fisher team.
But, I think McVay and the coaches he's put together are going to give Goff the opportunity to be all he can be. It's probably the right match.
The rest is up to him.
I give him the benefit of the doubt. I suspect if Bradford had this opportunity as a young guy, he'd be a different (and better) player today.
