sometimes its about the personnel and not the coach. its possible he did a good job coaching what he had.

its also possible that elway liked his leadership skills more then is coordinating skills. good coordinators dont always make good HCs and vice versa.

I'm sure it came down to gut feel and personality...but blaming it on being too young at 37 years old is a cop out IMO.

I'm glad they did though as the Rams now have Wade Phillips

Also, It's sounding more and more like KS wanted to have a lot more control then teams were willing to give him.... Looks like Niners are handing the entire operation over to him as they have no real choice at this point.
