I got to disagree with you Flip, I saw Zay Jones twice this yr and came away very impressed. In the games I saw him he had double digit catches in each game. He held up very well as the go to reciever. He played the same way in the Sr bowl as I saw him earlier in the yr. He is a snatch and grab useing his hands to catch with out a lot of the ball in to his body. In the Sr bowl had it not been for penalties he would have had a 3 TD game. Over achieved ? no sir He was some one who I was eager to see in the Sr Bowl and in my humble opinion , did not disappoint
But in the games I watched, especially against better competition (South Carolina & Virginia Tech) his team was down quickly and playing most of the game against essentially prevent type defenses catching short passes that did little to get his team back into the game. Basically taking only what the the defense gave him. The WR that made chunk plays in these games and broke deep even vs defenses defending against it was #81(Jimmy Williams?). Jones does have OUTSTANDING hands, and a very good feel vs zone but saw basically no separation vs man coverage. It's not like I hate him, I just think the second round talk after the Senior Bowl is at least two rounds too high for me based on what I saw in games.
I'm with Oldmanram on this one. Jones has been consistent all three years of college and has produced against good secondaries. I would be okay with the Rams spending a second round pick on him, but it's more likely that a better talent will be there with their first pick. He'll probably end up going to a divional rival and haunting us for seasons to come.
