John Lynch as been two things in his football career: a player and a color commentator. Nothing in between. He has never worked in any capacity in the FO, or as an assistant or coach, in any level of football.
And the Niners are going to make him their GM?
Who knows if he has any management capabilities at all?
Who knows if he has any idea how to select players, run a draft, organize people under him? So far as I know, he's never even been in a draft room.
I'm not saying he'll fail. I'm saying that he has no track record of any kind at doing any of this that would give any indication of expertise or aptitude.
Enormous risk that I certainly wouldn't take.
The McVay risk I don't like; but it pales in comparison to the risks San Fran is taking in hiring at 1st time HC along with a 100% inexperienced football operation director. And working for a jerkwad, immature owner to boot who can't offer any guidance or wisdom to those under him.
