...that fumbles were treated in a different way than interceptions. If you intercept the ball and your momentum carries you into the end zone, the ball comes out to the place where the ball was intercepted. If you recover a fumble and your momentum carries you into the end zone, it would be a safety according to the old rules. They make so many changes to the rules anymore that I can't keep up with them, but that play would have been a safety according to the old rules. There was a play perhaps 15 or 20 years ago in which someone dove on a fumble and slid into the end zone. It was ruled a safety.
