Here's a perspective on that.

The Rams were 32nd (last) in the NFL in yards per game. If they had gained an additional 45 yards per game last year they still would have been last.

The 49ers were 31st in the NFL in yards per game. If they had gained an additional 45 yards per game last year they would have been 17th.
