I dunno...but once it's there - he's a fearsome open field runner one of the best I've seen in a long time.
I hope this is the year McVay just feeds the ball to TA with more successful route combos to bust him free.
You put your finger on it. No one is going to raise the level of TA's general route running. It has been 4 years, and this is what Austin is as a receiver...he's fine on a certain bunch of routes but you don't count on him to do more. Just as you don't count on him to suddenly develop the kind of catch skills you see in real pure receivers.
No what you do is scheme to take advantage of what he CAN do.
And, yeah, route combos is more to the purpose when it comes to that than the idea that somehow after 4 years someone is going to turn TA into this advanced, refined overall route runner (like Hakim was).
