This isn't the Cowboys or the Pats or Green Bay.
This is the lowly Rams, one of the losingest teams in NFL history.
The franchise simply doesn't have the appeal that some others might.
I know that California types absolutely believe with a religious fervor that nobody could resist coming to So Cal. Not so.
It is expensive, overcrowded, the highways are parking lots and the taxes are the highest in the nation....by a long shot. Nice weather and night life only goes so far. For young players it might mean more; but not so much for older and more mature coaches. Not everybody is interested in swimming in 65 degree water.
Demoff is casting a wide net because the better prospects are going to have choices. And the money will be so good wherever they go that it likely won't be the deciding factor.
All this to say that it is nearly certain that although the best choice is a good winning NFL HC to take over; the Rams are unlikely to get one. That's why they need to throw so much money at Harbaugh that is would be financial suicide not to accept.
They'll have to go with a college HC that wants to move up (Shaw?) or a hot name NFL OC or DC who wants his first shot as an HC. About as risky a way to go for a franchise as you can have.
