My guess is by now they have an idea whether Gruden or Payton are even remote possibilities. And even then anything can happen and it's good to cast a wide net and have as many discussions as possible as quickly as possible. Shanahan, McDaniels, Lynn, Patricia, McVay, Goodwin, Wilks, on and on. As someone else said they'll probably learn something from every discussion they have. They are being interviewed as much as they are interviewing and probably will get pretty frank feedback on what they do and don't have in place.
Have 10 initial discussions leading to something like 5 or 6 follow-up interviews, get down to 2-3 finalists, etc. Makes perfect sense. It's the way good hiring is done.
