I went back and looked at my Draft rankings for 2016 (that aggregated and averaged the rankings from 8 leading draft sites/experts). The 37th pick in the draft was DT Chris Jones by KC, who was rated on average as the 36th best player available. He had 2 sacks, 28 tackles, 4 PD as a rookie. Seemingly a solid choice by KC.
But what's more interesting is at #37 besides Jones there were 8 of the top 34 overall players still on the board:
DT A'Shawn Robinson (14th)
ILB Reggie Ragland (17th)
DT Jarran Reed (20th)
CB Mackensie Alexander (21st)
DE Noah Spence (26th)
DT Andrew Billings (30th)
OG Cody Whitehair (33rd)
OT Jason Spriggs (34th)
My point is just that, while the Rams don't have a 1st round pick, if they're patient they'll be looking at multiple first round quality players at #37. Happens every year.
