not like I am today... even though the situation was 'similar'... not quite the same, for me anyway, even though the record was 'identical'? I didn't check.
Ya gotta look at it from my perspective... 99' came about after a mere 'decade' of poor performance. It was bad... it had not, at that time, taken the luster of the Rams for me.
Now, with an extremely brief respite.... a GREAT one, but also tragic in that I think they took a potential dynasty and stuffed it....we're over a decade and still 'linked' somewhat to the 90's... making for a 2 decade+ long losing streak with only a very short breather... which somewhat exasperates the bad because, as I said, there was no good reason to not continue winning, IMHO.
But back to square one.. not that you are, but perhaps some are, and maybe you.... do not read this as the Ram's having lost their luster for me. That ain't going to happen.. they're my team. I'll be every bit as fired up in 2017 as I have been every season since they first became my team.
Even today I know the Ram's will win again.... but this season it seemed to me the worst 'backslide' I can ever remember. It's not 'rooting for the Ram's' that has changed, nor my excitement when they take the field... it's the hope in the immediate situation, NOT the long term situation, the immediate situation. I'm not seeing it.
I was not like that in 98'. When the Ram's got Faulk and Green I was on FIRE... despite coming off a 4-12? 5-12? Whatever it was. Today no matter who they get I can't imagine myself having much hope... in this COMING year. - JamesJM
