From a contract standpoint, Coty didn't set back the franchise. They structured his contract in a way that made it easy to get out of without consequence.
From a lost opportunity standpoint, I believe he did set them back. I've always maintained the amount they paid him should have went to resign McLeod. There was not much difference between the two salaries.
They needed to keep at least one of Jenkins or McLeod. I understood the unwillingness to pay Jenkins' price but McLeod's was much more reasonable.
Letting him go was a mistake. I think we've seen that Alexander is not a FS even in GW's scheme.
