It has it's deficiencies, but those deficiencies are far more apparent the longer they are on the field. Those deficiencies don't show themselves quite so often when the D is standing on the sidelines watching their offensive teammates move the ball down the field. You have to have a historically great defense to succeed with an offensive unit as inept as the Rams is. Obviously, the Rams don't have a historically great defense. But it's good enough to win with. It compares very favorably with Atlanta's. According to NFL.com, the Rams were 9th in the league in total defense (total yards per game). Only two playoff teams are better (Seattle, Houston). I don't have too many qualms about the defense. It's not a great defense, but it's a winning defense if the entire fortunes of the team don't depend on it.
