Works the same in every sport. It's weird it was never seen or even reported for years but has always been a disadvantage for high tax state teams.

Take the NBA , They have just signed a new CBA that handcuffs any teams getting free agents at all , let alone state taxes.

This CBA and the prior one were to level the playing field for small market teams. So states with higher or in cases like Texas and Florida, no income tax

there should be an adjustment to caps to cover this . imo.

What's surprising is that it just keeps going on...you'd think there would be an owner by now to stand up and question the huge disadvantage it is.

Teams in Florida use that as a marketing tool to get players signed...Suh is just one example. A team in Cali would have to give Close to $120,000,000 contract to match a $100,000,000 one in Florida.

A cap should be set according to each states income tax.

Also, visiting team tax, or jock tax

More often it's "hotel tax" or "sin tax"
