No question that McDaniels, Shanahan, and McVay are superior OC's. Maybe even great ones, tbh.
But they won't be OC's if hired by the Rams. As HC's, just how much time and effort could (or should) they devote to the O?
Properly, they should hire an OC to do the job of an OC. Same with every other danged coach.
IOW, can their OC skills translate to the HC position? It's always a crapshoot, and heaven knows that the Rams have hired a series of excellent and highly regarded coordinators going back to, and including Martz that have been failures. Miserable failures as HC's.
TBH, Fisher could have been considered a glorified D.C., himself.
So, that's my source of concern at the idea of hiring another "hot" coordinator. I've learned my lesson. Just too much boom or bust for me when there's a possibility of choosing a long term proven HC with the required CEO skills available.
Clearly, I am in the minority. At least, so far.
