If Stan doesn't do everything possible to land either Harbaugh brother, or to add a team President that is a football guy and let him lead the search (seems unlikely at this point but not out of the question), then yes he'll probably look to the OC/DC ranks. And yes, the Shanahan name helps from a PR standpoint. And if I had to choose between Shanahan and McDaniel it would be close to a toss up for me. But there is no denying that as OC Kyle Shanahan has had some serious success with a variety of QBs and systems. McDaniel has had the same HOF (maybe best of all time) QBs to work with year after year, and works under a genius HOF HC in a very stable organization with maybe the best owner in the NFL. In other words, McDaniels has had every advantage; Shanahan has had to work under less than ideal circumstances in a variety of venues.
Nonetheless, Jim Harbaugh first, John Harbaugh second, would be my choice.
But if I'm the LA owner I want a sparkling Offense. Much better to lose 38 -35 than 9 - 6.
