There is solid resources and coaching resumes along with several intangibles that can give a person an educated guess about why they believe one HC candidate might be more successful than the other.
People say stuff like that, and, it never makes any difference. I look back at the coaching discussions I've been in or read over the years, going way back now, resumes don't matter, because no one knows the resumes of all the coaches in the league and the relevant college coaches in the pool. They're not making real, comparative judgments. They're just going on what they get from media sources and media sources are not very good on coaching searches. Year in and out, coaches who turn out to be hits in the league escape people's radar and popular choices turn out to be mediocre. Well---of all the POSSIBLE candidates this year and guys that will get hired, where is the person who can do actual real genuine comparisons of all of them? Virtually no one really. So whenever I say coaching discussions are not that good as a rule, that is directly based on history. It's not based on theory or armchair Ideas. I say they aren't nearly as good as player discussions because the actual track record shows that they are just not. That's the history. As a rule, they;re just not.
