In 11 seasons Gruden had only 3 losing seasons.
He took his team to the playoffs in 5 of the 11 seasons. One Superbowl victory.
So, it's not like the man hasn't had success.
But......he's not been in the game for many years and and it is not as though anyone would name him as the top tier of NFL coaches. At least I wouldn't.
He hasn't had to operate under the terms of the new CBA and this era of players. But he would be immensely better than Fisher.
Despite Harbaugh saying he's not interested, the money he's earning at Michigan (more than any NFL coach) says it IS about the money for him. Don't get me wrong. He no doubt wants a real good situation as well and he has a good situation at Michigan. But his contract at Michigan does NOT require a buy out if he leaves; only a reimbursement for a life insurance policy premium.
But if Kroenke threw, say, $10-$11 million per year at him, I suspect Harbaugh would at least listen.
On the other hand California is the most taxed state in the union and living in So Cal is extremely expensive.
So much of what ever raise he'd get would go straight to Jerry Brown. And at this level of pay don't think for a minute that taxes and cost of living (especially cost of housing) doesn't play a role.
So the question is: does Harbaugh prefer the NFL to college or California to Michigan? Don't know. But that will play a big role in his decision. If it was me, I'd stay in Michigan. But I'm not Harbaugh.
