I think the OL is a big catalyst for his (long-term) improvement. Being at the game I watched the OL a lot and it wasn't doing the job well at all. He did hold the ball too long multiple times but he was also running for his life on jail breaks many times. The Patriots' analysts after the game and the next day were all saying they were amazed how poor the Rams' OL was. Again I think they have several good pieces but collectively it's just not happening this year. Hard to tell why.
I stand by what I am saying. You can't tell from looking where Goff got confused for even a half second because the Patz muddled the reads, or where he didn't see and account for a blitz pre-snap, and so on. A lot of this is "fans can't see it" stuff.
I base that on things like this.
Here's CK's sack percentage: 6.8%
Here's JG's in just the last 2 games: 10.9%
Yet same line.
CK is a vet...so of course he's better at that stuff so far.
Plus Miami played it pretty straight though with a superior DL to NO and NE. Here's the sack percentage in THAT game: 3.2%
How did the OL allow a better sack percentage against a stronger D? Because they didn't blitz him the way NO and NE did. NE of course also would have a high mastery of things like disguised coverages and false fronts.
