to completely change the philosophy and mindset. That is what must happen with the Rams.....again. Of course the key is to reload with the right people. So dumping Fisher is close to a foregone conclusion. But who replaces him? Another sub .500 coach that the players love? A long time "respected" HC that goes along to get along, and has achieved little in the way of playoff appearances or wins? A "name" college coach who is forever the bride's maid and never the bride?

My choice would be to offer Harbaugh what money it takes to get him. He is a super competitive, winning is everything, SOB who has a love/hate relationship with players and FO. But, he can mold a team...quickly....and make the most of what he has. He can be unconventional. But what he needs is a FO that is thick skinned to back him up and to keep him on track; one that can cover for his public foopaws, and allows him to get the credit and facetime that he seeks. I suspect that he is really difficult to work with. However the trick is to find the right chemistry to allow him to succeed and not allow his caustic personality to wreck the organization. That is what upper management is for.

Second choice: Nick Saban. If he wins the FBS championship again (I would say it is a near lock), he just might want a different challenge. I know he failed at Miami, but he also had a clash there with the FO and with players he didn't want but the FO wouldn't let him get rid of them. Apparently, Saban, too, can be pretty caustic and difficult to work with. But you don't do what he did and does at Alabama without knowing what you're doing.

Anyway, the last thing I want to hear about is how Fisher is being allowed to stay if he gets a new OC and Offensive staff because he'll stifle whoever he gets and do it his way.

Excellent post, Rock.

They've gotta get it right on GM and HC. If they blow it on either man, we're in for another miserable 3-5 years.

But if they get both right? I see playoffs in our future.

Myself, I would keep Snead. But only Demoff knows whether Snead was making good recommendations and Fisher overrode him, or not. We'll know in 4-5 weeks, I guess.

I love your two favorite choices for our new HC, too. Heck, they're my exact two favorites, as well. Unfortunately, I doubt either would be interested in leaving their current jobs, but I would start with those two in my quest.
