You just summed up my feelings about this. He's out of line, but fans will support him IMO because they are tired of Fisher, so they will excuse his totally tactless and unprofessional approach to "sports reporting".
ED probably has made enemies, or at least not so much friends, with some players based on the things he has said. If he decides to go over the top then he has to live with the consequences, yet instead he is throwing up his hands as if he is being punished for doing nothing wrong.
Funny that he says for him "it's all about winning" yet back in 1987 is was all about the money. How things do change LOL.
I've lost some respect for him, ala CCArter for his over the top nonsense/BS about how Goff can't play and he knew that before Goff ever actually played because of what he heard/saw.
Sad, because ED was always a favorite of mine but this is just poor behavior.

It's odd that nobody has touched on this part of the issue..........Fisher said that players came to him and said they were uncomfortable with Dickerson being on the sidelines. It's worth talking about IMO, because if players (and I'm guessing it would have been guys that mattered not some scrubs) don't want him around and ED isn't getting the message then it's his fault. This has been building for a bit and ED isn't handling it like a grown up.
