Whether or not he has signed an extension (and if he has, why wouldn't they have announced it when the Rams were 3 and 1?) - unless Stan is the dumbest billionaire walking the planet - he has to KNOW that keeping Fisher under these circumstances would be a PR disaster for the ages.
It would immediately further alienate the fan base he is trying to establish/re-establish in Los Angeles.
So even if there is an agreement in place - he can negotiate out of it, nullify it - or just eat the money and tell Fisher to get lost.
If he keeps him, he risks losing everything he wanted to accomplish by bringing the Rams back to LA.
As others have said - he would be a laughing stock for years to come.
And the Rams would remain a losing team under an awful (YEP), complete failure of a head coach.
