If he returns just to stick it to the Niners then hes smaller than I thought
I would think he would want to return to win a SB. He coached in 1 SB and two NFC Championships and then abruptly was out of SF
If he is as competitive as I believe he is he will return to win an NFL Championship something that eluded him as a player as well and something his bother has.
The SF angle is just gravy IMO
I do agree about the toxic angle...that could be a concern for sure. I also think your argument for him to stay at Michigan is a potential valid take. What if he wins it this year with Michigan?
If the Rams are interested they are already talking/have talked to him for sure

Imo ... Harbaugh is the perfect college coach. For one thing, he's a dynamic recruiter ... and recruiting is the life's blood of any great college program. He's also a fairly innovative coach on gameday. Smart. Always looking for the edge. The kind of guy who's going to get under Urban Meyer's skin and stay there for a long time. College football needs somebody like Harbaugh ... who is absolutely unafraid of tweeking the noses of the power-base.
Most importantly, though ... I get the very real sense Harbaugh's personality is toxic over the long haul. That act is dynamite in the pro game ... for two or three up to four years. Beyond that, I get the impression that he gets tuned out. Pros don't need to listen to his routine year after year. A kid he recuits? That is different. By the time they start to get tired of him, they are out of the program.
The only reason Harbaugh ever returns to the pro game is he wants to rub the 49ers noses in it. And that, in my mind, is not a good enough reason to hand him the keys to a pro castle.
