He's no offensive savior or anything, particularly as a rookie TE, but he IS a huge passing game target with a nice catch radius. He's made for going across the middle, and I think if they would use him to his strengths he could help out.
This scheme is simply terrified of the middle of the field in the passing game, though. And I hate to admit it, but yeah I do think now it is Fish that pushes that approach, to limit turnovers. Thing is he has a QB now who is ready and willing to put that ball up over the middle on slants and whatnot, and they can use that to set up stuff like sluggos and go routes and otherwise take advantage of safeties rolling up.
I'm sure Fish is viewing that Kendricks turnover and saying "that's what you get throwing to the middle of the field." But it's whatever man, I'm at the stage where I simply hope Stan is wise enough to bring in an offensive mind who can develop Goff and get the most of the pieces we do have.
