I'm not seeing these 'holes' you're talking about. BC is a great RB, but on his 'successes' he had holes... on nearly all, (not ALL) of Gurley's carries there aren't any 'holes'.
I do agree, as I've said, that it looks to me like Gurley is now not really looking, however. As many have said before me.. .he's running up the back of the blockers. Now most of the time, and by that I mean the majority of the time and by a good margin, there is no hole, or daylight, to see... but that's no excuse to not be ready when there is. And it's hurting him, and the Rams.
But you put BC as the starter... same number of carries, and right now he's going to suffer the same problems. - JamesJM
Case in point, 3:52 left in the 4th quarter, 1st and 20, Cunningham bounces a run to the right for 5 yards that was designed to go left. There was no space left. Gurley would have run up the back of the runner and gotten stopped for no gain.
The OL hasn't been good but we are severely underestimating RB vision. Right now, Gurley is showing none.
