I can't put my finger on it.
But when an HC has a team that is in a death spiral and his response is to change absolutely nothing......including refusing to play his #1 pick in the draft QB.....something just doesn't smell right.
I don't know if Fisher is getting back at Kroenke for NOT already extending him to the terms he wanted (maybe a perceived promise was made...because of the move.....and it has not happened).
I don't know if the short lived rumor that Goff and the mega-trade was forced on Fisher by Kroenke is true and so Fisher is sending a message to Kroenke that he can lead a horse to water but he can't force him to drink.
I don't know if because Fisher is a wealthy man and knows this is all going to end badly so he's going to do what ever he damn well wants to as a swan song and if Kroenke fires him he STILL gets paid.
Or if Fisher, the arrogant, stubborn, highly overrated HC that has made a living by fielding sub .500 teams, just has no idea how to use his talent, how to develop his talent, and has one speed and one scheme and simply can't adapt. So there really is nothing to do, because he has no other tricks in his bag.
But something just isn't right. HCs with teams going bad just don't sit back and do nothing. They shake things up. It's like the old saying: the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things while expecting a different outcome. Fisher isn't insane.
But I smell a rat. I just don't know what it is. We may have to wait until years end. But something in the next couple of months, something interesting is going to come out. Mark my words.
This is why we get these "Goff can't play" stories that make NO sense. I think it is players and former players saying these things because they feel the same way that I do. Nothing the Rams are doing makes sense by NFL standards so they speculate as to why the obvious isn't happening.
