The one that sticks out the most: Rodney Mcleod.
The cap move would have been to spend on him and not extend Tavon Austin.
I disagree. This team has a high success rate producing DBs. In fact in 2014 no one here would rate McLeod that high. They made him what he is. They have done it with others (Gaines, McDonald, Joyner). I would keep Austin over McLeod 100 times out of 100.
As it stands right now the Rams rank 12th on passing D and that's with a couple of down games (like Detroit) and with injuries (Johnson).
In fact this is the only team I can think of that produced 2 top CBs in the same draft without using a 1st round pick (Jenkins and Johnson). There may be others scattered throughout NFL history but it's certainly not common. Then they add Joyner, Alexander, and Gaines in the same draft. For that matter, McLeod is from 2012 also so that's 3 DBs from 2012. Name someone who has done better than that.
In my opinion, you don't overpay for an area where you have a strength finding and developing players.
