Rams Plan A.........Run Gurley and have QB be able to rely on run game.
Rams Plan B......After establishing a Run Game, play action pass.
Well, until Plan A works , there's no Plan B.
I think the Rams and Goff are on hold until this running game is going in high gear. Why? Because ANY QB will get pummeled when a Defense can just put their ears back and go crush the QB. There is no reason to rush Goff if our running game sucks. Right now, our running game sucks.
That simplifies it to the point where it is just not related to what they actually do on the field.
It also simplifies it to the point where you are describing several teams in the NFL. I THINK you think running/play action is "simple," which is of course a mistake. Several teams in the NFL thrive on that approach. PLUS you simplified it to the point where you did not even address what I said...namely, this offense depends a lot on protection calls, audibles, and sight adjustments. Stuff that is not visible to fans watching. In fact a lot of that is working. If it weren't working, win or lose every single game would be like the 1st SF game. What is not working on offense is the running game.
They won games this year unable to run, and they were close in others.
Their passing game actually improved to the point where in a couple of games, that's all they had.
It;s just simply inaccurate to describe this offense as uncomplicated. There's a lot on the qb in terms of pre-snap calls and audibles and adjustments, which means being able to read defenses. Goff has just simply not done that stuff before. He has to learn it. Pretending the offense is simple doesn't get at the reality. The reality is, it is NOT simple and the ways it is not simple are directly related to what Goff didn't do in college and has to learn.
