I don't know why he would. Sometimes players do that. We see it on plays where the play isn't on their side, and Owens used to do that a lot. That said, you have to be operating under the assumption that the QB might see something in the coverage that he likes and he'll target you anyway. There was a lot of discussion about that play right after it happened, and several people rewound the game to see Britt jogging through the middle of the route for no apparent reason. And then, of course, Fisher came out afterward and threw him under the bus by saying, "Kenny quit on the post."
