What gap was called for this play? Or was Gurley supposed to run to the outside?
It looks like it is Gurley's fault:
IF the play was to be run outside of the TEs .... the FB takes out the outside rusher and Gurley runs right at (and over) #27 ... but looks are deceiving.
It is NOT G-ROBs fault IF this is supposed to be a trap play with the pulling guard ... If a trap, then G-Rob is NOT supposed to take out "first color" rather he is supposed to take out the LB #50 .... In this case the fault lies with the pulling guard for not taking out his man.. Yes or no?
With the TEs blocking down, it tells me that this play was not supposed to be a trap, rather it was poorly designed to be run outside of the TEs ... because this play was
TOO SLOW TO DEVELOP ... the pulling the guard was supposed to be a decoy trap so as to get #59 to shoot the gap voided by G-Rob and not bounce outside.
Gurley has great vision ... he has Faulk-like vision ...I think that Gurley run straight because he saw that Harkey (#46) was not gonna be able to hold off the rush from the outside ... and running (to his) left was broken before he even got the hand-off. ... thus maybe ... maybe this was Harkey's fault.
I put the FAIL of this play on the designer ... offensive coordinator BORAS .. expecting Harkey to hold a block on his man that long.
the play would have worked if the Rams had picked up Marcel Reece as FB ... Reece would have owned the outside rusher, and we would have seen Gurley run over #27

the video doesn't show how good his hands really are. I think he can be the next Danny Amendola.... with Chris Carter's hands... and then some.
