Case and The Rams offense ratings and rankings are hampered big time by that horrific game vs Niners. His last two games against two good defense he's averaged about 270 ypg and has a pretty good YPA. His ints kill his QB rating. Has to do better with that. Hope they come out against the lions slinging it.

This is important and worth noting. The SF game was not just a bad game, it was also a wake-up call. There was a player's only meeting, they changed up the defense some, and so on.

So arguably tossing out the SF game is not just this arbitrary gesture intended to suppress facts we don't like. Arguably you toss out the numbers from the SF game BECAUSE WITHOUT DOING THAT YOU DO NOT GET A CLEAR PICTURE OF THE TEAM. In fact, in light of this argument---that they changed as a result of the SF game---then KEEPING the numbers from the SF game in your calculations is actually itself something that suppresses facts. It prevents a clear picture.

As it happens a very good stats site, Team Rankings, not only has excellent thorough stats, it has compares a SEASON avg on each stat to what it calls "the last 3 games." (The site is here if anyone doesn't know it: [www.teamrankings.com] ).

Here are their numbers are various things comparing the season averages, including the SF game, and then the last 3 games, which presumably interests us if we believe the team changed not only after but because of the SF game. It's all offensive numbers.

Keenum, qb rating.
Season: 75.4
Last 3 games: 88.7

Points per Game
Season: 31st
Last 3 Games: 12th

Points per Play
Season: 29th
Last 3 Games: 8th

Team Yards per Play
Season: 29th
Last 3 Games: 21st

Third Down Conversion Percentage
Season: 28th
Last 3 Games: 12th

Yards per Pass Attempt
Season: 18th
Last 3 Games: 5th

Yards per Pass Completion
Season: 7th
Last 3 Games: 2nd

One that has not changed much, and ranks very low: yards per attempt rushing. 31st to 29th.

Nice... Good stuff, good find

Thanks. Let';s see where it stands after a couple of more games.

You know if the 3rd down conversion rate stays high all year that will be the first time since 2004 it was higher than the 20s.

..

Actually that's inaccurate. It reached 18th in 2006. But that's the only exception.

Mostly since 2004 it has been in the 20s. Usually low 20s.
