HIs 2 seasons with the St. Louis RAMS the team ran for over 1800 yards in 2006 and over 1500 in 2007. Steven Jackson played in 12 games in 2007 and had 1002 yards. Those numbers without much from the passing game.

There's a reason for that.

Look at the Rams numbers for those years in a Football Outsider's stat called open field yards. It's what the back gets beyond the LOS without blocking.

Rams always were high in that, because of Jackson.

Jackson was an ideal back for a bad OL because once he got momentum he created he created his own space so to speak.
