I'll say up front that I agree almost entirely with that - Fisher is not going to lead us to the promised land, EXCEPT, by extraordinary circumstance, (which could happen), but which, should it happen , will be, IMHO, quite unrelated to Fisher himself. Ok, that's the negative, and it's pretty darned negative, right?
And by the way, there isn't a real 'positive' in this replay except to better explain how I see Fisher.
So now a more complete opinion of Fisher. I do not think our chances are 'incredibly slim' with him but it depends on what you mean by 'incredibly slim'. I don't think our chances are 'good'... but at the same time far from 'hopeless'. I also do not think Fisher doesn't understand the game nor is he unaware of why things are going wrong. What I think is that Fisher believes he has a sound 'plan' that he needs to rigorously abide by to get things back on track. Veering from that 'track', even minutely, he is never going to consider -- because he believes in it body and soul. I think that in some ways he is right. Unfortunately I do not think he's right enough to pull it off. IMHO there is simply too many things 'wrong' with his plan... and I define that by what we are seeing on game days. I fully believe there is a 'signature' look to Fisher's game time coaching that can't be isolated to one play, or quarter, or even game... but taken as a whole I am convinced one could easily pick out a "Fisher Called Game" even if the team names and logos and colors and location were disguised to 'protect the innocent'.
It's the system, "plan" if you will, that has failed... and not, IMHO, Fisher's expertise about football. Also... and this is probably foolish on my part, I still think it 'possible', not likely at all, that his 'plan' DOES come together and quite suddenly things start to click. That would be near miraculous, IMHO... but I don't discount the possibility.
I don't 'dislike' Fisher... I just think it's not working...and not for lack of effort. - JamesJM
