The "looks" thing I agree is a real stretch.

That said, anyone that doesn't think that selling the farm to trade up and draft a Cal QB, that was FAR from a sure thing (and considering the system he came from etc... I PERSONALLY wouldn't have taken EVEN IF we had the #1 overall pick, and didn't have to give up up that ridiculous amount of draft capital) had nothing to do with PR/creating a SUSTAINED "buzz" beyond the initial love affair of the return...is simply fooling themselves IMO. There is a reason that LA has lost so many football teams, the fans in the area lose interest REAL quick when you don't put a high end product out there. This was at least in part to buy time and give the fans something to "look forward to/have hope in", when and if the team is bad...and that is exactly what they look like so far.

You seem a bit biased in your opinion as you stated you wouldn't have picked him even if we had the first pick. So pardon me if I read you the wrong way.
But saying that "LA lost so many football teams" because the fans lose interest real quick is a fallacy. It's been discussed to death, so no need to go into that.

Winning is what sales, not "hope" so that is another fallacy in thinking this pick was anything but about picking the best person to help them do that winning thing.
