Wait!! No disrespect but I'll risk sounding like an idiot and call you on that one. I can unequivocally say that NFL teams do not use their proprietoryou services as a scouting tool. Do you understand how silly that sounds?

Teams build their own algorithms. NFL requires their stamp on third party services. That is why they use an NFL administrated scouting and data base.

It’s credible because a majority of the NFL use or have used their services. Agents also use their info. It’s why they changed their business model; they now limit their info to the public and cater more to the deep pockets.

If agents and 19+ NFL teams consulted you for your opinion on the rankings of NFL players, you would also be credible. If wouldn’t mean you were always right but it would absolutely mean you have credibility.

I’m not even sure why this is a debate anymore. Same for Football Outsiders.

I didn't say they used them as a scouting tool. I simply said they have used their services and specifically used the word "consulting."

That 19+ NFL teams have used their services I got directly from them around the time they changed their business model. They say that the Premium Stats are a commercial-grade statistical and analytic tool designed to serve NFL teams...They also have had professional agents verify the usefulness of their data. So unless you have evidence to the contrary, you're the one that sounds silly.

It's similar for FO. I know that Las Vegas odds makers use them as a resource. Any time that inside professionals or the gambling industry use or refer to your services, then they are credible.
I'm very curious how team executives can properly evaluate the service without knowing the proprietary build of the system. 1) The NFL doesn't allow third party services without having an administrative ownership. There is no way to ensure an even information distribution.

2) the algorithm is proprietary. Data in general is not owned. There is literally two people who know the build and that is one owner and the builder. That is why only two people know the algorithm of companies like Ebay. It's information based.

I can guarantee you that NFL teams do not use pff 's system. I'm sure they have used builds like that or even used pff to build a system to suit their use. That doesn't add strength or demonize pff's system. Teams have used these things for 10 years in all sports.

Until the people paid to evaluate players on PFF's payroll are privy to how they are giving said analysis or offer a typical scouting view (as opposed to their columns being prefaced by the views are strictly off the statistical output of a system they don't know) then it's nothing more than an interesting read.
