Prior to the titans superbowl year Bud Adams wanted to fire Fisher and Reese talked him out of it.

In 2006 after some decline in the Titans Fisher got tired of losing players to free agency and lobbied Adams to have say in player personnel including the draft. In 2006 while Young was Adams pick the second rounder (Lendale White) was Fishers instead of Reese's (Devon Hester). That was Reese's last year. Basically Fisher won a power struggle over Reese.

Reese would of course feel betrayed by a coach whose job he saved then going over his head.

This at least was what was reported back then.
