So this week the team will be MORE focused??? Statements like this are baffling to me. How can you be any less than 110% focused and ready when playing one of your biggest division rivals on MNF to open the season???? And judging from the performance, I think he is right, I just don't get how this continually happens to THIS team.
What do you expect him to say: we performed poorly because we suck? What do you even expect him to BELIEVE? I suspect that all those guys, certainly the D guys, think they're *really* much better than they showed. I imagine those D-guys really, really believe - in their heart of hearts -- that they're a top-5 defense. Well, they didn't play like that. I doubt the O-guys think they're a top-5 offense, but they surely believe they're MUCH better, as individuals and as a team, than what they offered Monday.
They can't blame injuries, , etc. etc. And yet you need a reason, THEY need a reason, to believe that Monday will prove the rule, not the exception.
"Lack of focus" sounds pretty good to me. Certainly better than "we just suck." And it has the virtue of almost surely being true.
