You think the Rams are the only team that sees 8, 9 in the box?
Heck Steven Jackson ran against 8,9 in the box his entire career.
I've said this before and I'm saying it again...Todd Gurley ain't all that!
He's a college rb who looks real good running through BIG holes but on 60% of his carries he gets less than 3ypc.
Overrated!!!
He'll learn to find holes in those situations. Give him at least a
little time
. That said, I didn't really see many holes, period, in that game. There weren't places for truly great backs to "get small" and scamper through. And, speaking of Jackson, whom I always liked a ton: He didn't bowl over many defenders at the line of scrimmage. He did his damage once he broke free of that -- going through a hole first. Once he got up a head of steam, he could run over guys with ease -- though he had a problem with getting tripped up from behind. But he needed to get clear of the initial charge. Gurley didn't get that chance very often.
With all due respect Billy none of that is even relevant.
I don't care how old TG is, running is instinctive.
And regardless of where or how SJ got his yards, he got them behind porous o-lines against stacked boxes.
Nothing else matters.
Best,
