Wow, I can't believe this schlock was in the Sporting News. So silly. First, one can't compare the scrutiny of the first overall pick and anyone else. Second, The Rams moved to Hollywood and the spotlight is on them as this is by far the biggest off season story. Third, not being ready to start game 1 means nothing in a player's career. QBd play from 10-20 years and we're getting this worked up about a kid not playing week one on the road against a division opponent. Also, think calling Keenum a journeyman is unfair. He's still a young QB himself and he's been on the Rams and the Texans. He's not a 30-something career backup who is playing on his 7th team.
He is a young QB who has won games as a Ram in real NFL action. Even further, Mannion was a third rounder who has had a year in the system and looks improved. Having a somewhat experienced QB is CK goes down is smart. Goff is the real deal and will start sometime and when he does he'll be terrific. I don't know when and I don't care. It's nice to know it will happen eventually. The only part of the piece I agree with is his research regarding other guys thrown into the fire and how it can be destructive. Glad we're not making that mistake.
