The Gurley Austin thing was sweet for a few games.
They had a few games going with Austin and Gurley working off each other on a play that looked similar and had like 3 or 4 flavors to a play and mixed it up.
IT was the best thing of the entire season for the Rams offense. However, it started to fizzle later in the year and they need to find more combo type of plays similar to what they had going on there (with Gurley and Austin) for a while. (where it looked to be the more of the same, but created an element of surprise, when a play had a slight variation)
I swear that one game when Bailey caught a touchdown on a 3 WR bunch set was a sign of better things to come, where they would run some new things, but it really never took off.
I don't see many draws, pitch outs, Shuffle passes, misdirection runs, inside handoffs, fullback sneaks with Gurley in backfield and another guy taking the ball. I don't see much variety in blocking schemes in running games with full backs being used, 2 tight ends, running out of 4 WR sets or 5 WR sets.
It goes on and on. I see other NFL teams do it, but rarely see the Rams do it and the few times I see it, normally there is success, but things never change.
