He brought them instant credibility. All of sudden we became competitive within the division and we got out of the 15-65 morass that preceded him.
However, as the seasons progressed, real warts began to become more apparent. The poor time management, the way he refused to foster any type of real competition around bradford - the complete opposite thing he did with RBs (going from S.J., to D. Richardson, to Zach Stacy, to Tre Mason to Todd Gurley).
He has built a sturdy defense and very good special teams. The weak link here is the Offense and historically QB and OL. We finally seem to have some players and depth along the line so for me this is the make or break season. I could see us just as easily winning 5 or 10 games and for me, that lies with Fisher.
There is something about him - the way we competed against Seattle in Game 1 llast year only to come out flat and unprepared against the Skins the following week. The way we can handle the broncos and then lose to the bears, the way we can get up for certain teams and simply not be ready for others. That seems to me to be coaching.
The way we came out against Dallas in Preseason one was awful. How a team wasn't UP for that game is crazy.
The same thing with the real game # 1 this year. Coach Fisher has NO EXCUSE NOT TO BE ON FIRE GAME 1.
The LOS ANGELES RAMS v. 49ers, Monday night football, WEEK 1. If this team isn't flying around buzzing and smashing people (using my best godfather voice: "I'm going blame some of the people in this room (see Coach Fisher)."
Fisher IS capable of dominating as a coach- he has done it - he can do it, but I think that is the exception not the rule.
That said, GO MULLETT! GO FISH, lets dominate this year!
