Two of three (Y, Z) allow for motion and a free release if and when the OC desires to utilize it. So on a given roster it follows that you don't need all wideouts who are of the standard size/speed ratio to play X. Where I'm going with this is even if he can't play out wide at X there are two other wideout positions he can fill for this team.

And when it comes to X, I agree with you Rock that he might be ok out there. Only way to know is put him out there and see if his route running and overall strength and handfighting technique is good enough for him to get open. Given that, then yes he will be able to play out there. But for me, if I am on the staff, I'd have to see that of course.
