You may have seen my tweets with Matt Waldman and he said he's not changing his evaluation of either Prescott (who he rated quite low) and Goff (who he rated best in class) base on what he's seen so far. He's also not a Fisher basher, and actually thinks Fisher is a decent HC who gets a bad rap.
I should be clear about something though.
I actually like Prescott. Meaning I liked him before the draft. Before the Rams traded for the one, I was giving him some time in my Rams thoughts.
So I can handle a world where Prescott turns out to be good too.
When people say, well, they coulda had DP without trading up, I will always think, well that's not half as bad as knowing they could have traded up not that far in 83 and gotten Marino.

Yes, I'm aware of that. And I was on Prescott in January. I asked Myles Simmons to check him out at the SR Bowl. And we aren't the only ones who were very interested in Prescott. NJRAM was a huge Prescott fan. Dak was the only QB he wanted in this draft. We had many discussion on him. Plus, I had asked Boylhart who he liked way back in January and he loved Prescott. He had him rated higher than Wentz.
Personally, I liked Goff best but not crazy about the cost. Before the trade my first choice was to stick and pick Lynch in the first round. But I was also good with taking Prescott in the 3rd.
And this is a bit different than trading up for Marino. This is a situation where the Rams made the total focus of the draft getting the QB. If they got it wrong, its a monumental failure.
Having said all that I like Goff. I like his skill set and I think he will be the first decade long Rams franchise qb since...um...
None were a decade long were they.
I would be very surprised if he does not work out and personally I am fine with the cost.
BTW, just to be pedantic about it, I don't use the term "franchise qb" as synonymous with "elite." At the minimum, a franchise qb is a reliable consistent starter you stick with. Elite is a rare qb who just transcends the position. I don't know if Goff can be elite but I think he can be (for me that will depend on how he plays in clutch and comeback situations). I am reasonably confident he is a franchise qb.
